Myths and Mountains Adds Africa
Answer the call of the wild in style on Myths and Mountains first foray into Africa.
INCLINE VILLAGE, NV (January 2007)—In 2007, Myths and Mountains answers the call of the wild with a first-time venture into Africa for an exclusive, first-class journey. Private charter flights, enchanting tented camps, exotic surroundings and a world of wildlife are among the luxuries that await you on the Myths and Mountains safari in Tanzania.
“We’ve chosen an intimate corner of the world’s second largest continent to share with travelers who want to experience the wild in style,” said Allie Almario, Myths and Mountains vice president. “Our luxury safari in Tanzania is perfect blend of adventure and indulgence.
“Travelers follow in the footsteps of the legendary Jane Goodall, wander around the Great Rift Valley’s Ruaha National Park, and relax beachside in a private cottage on the Indian Ocean on this ultimate safari,” she continued.
Ms Almario will accompany travelers on this extraordinary adventure to East Africa. Her interest and experience in wildlife conservation and ecotourism began with her 11-year tenure as manager of the Philadelphia Zoo’s acclaimed Zoofari program.
The adventure begins in Tanzania’s largest city, Dar Es Saalam—Swahili for “haven of peace”–which boasts a vibrant Arabic and Indian culture. A private chartered flight to the shore of Lake Tanganyika and a boat trip lead to the famous Gombe Stream National Park, home to 200 habituated chimpanzees and some of Jane Goodall’s most important studies.
Next stop—by private plane of course—is Ruaha National Park, a 5,000-square-mile conservation area that’s a well-kept secret among safari connoisseurs. Rare antelope, leopard, large prides of lion and over 500 species of bird life are among the region’s wild riches.
Evenings are spent in the comforts of some of East Africa’s finest accommodations, including Gombe Stream and Jongomero, luxury tented camps, and Ras Kutani, a natural resort on a crescent of white ocean beach.
